Ross River (Mundingburra)

When?

Every Thursday from 7:00 – 10:00 am.

About

Our Mundingburra Landcare site extends along the edge of Ross River from Aplins Weir to Sheriff Park. It is easily accessible from Aplins Weir Rotary Park and from the ends of O’Dowd Street, Mango Avenue, Winifred Street, Water Street, or Trot Street.

History of this site

Local residents began restoration at several patches of degraded vegetation along the river bank during the late 1990s and early 2000s, and some awesome individuals have continued this work over decades.

Current work

Thanks to a Community Sustainability Action Grant, CDTLI undertook a “Leucaena Blitz” targeting these extremely invasive plants along the Mundingburra river bank during during 2019-2020. We have also planted 800 new native trees in recently weeded areas and continue to maintain them with additional water and mulch.
