Ross Creek (Hermit Park)
When?
2nd Saturday of the month from 4:30 – 6:30 pm.
About
This site extends along Ross Creek between Boundary Street and Queens Road in Hermit Park.
History of this site
Weed control and native tree planting along Ross Creek began informally in the 1990s and has continued intermittently over past decades. Early efforts were boosted by the revegetation project located across Queens Road in Bicentennial Park, which began in 2009 as part of the Federal Government’s Caring for our Country’s Coastcare initiative.
Current work
Early plantings at this site are now largely self-sustaining with spaces available for infill planting and an ongoing need for controlling invasive weed species. Ross Creek now has an enthusiastic new Site Leader assisted by a small group of keen volunteers. New volunteers are always welcome!
