Family: MIMOSACEAE
- Acacia meaning “a point“
- multisiliqua meaning “many pods“
Occurrence
Not a local plant – occurs on rocky ridges and gravelly and sandy soils across northern Qld, NT and WA.
Cultivation requirements are not well known. Natural habitat indicates a need for good drainage and tolerance of full sun, part shade, and some dryness.
Appearance
A slender, spindly shrub (1-2m) with straight or slightly curved, grey-green, fleshy leaves. Pale yellow, spherical
flower heads (Aug-Oct) lead to clumps of seed pods.
A hardy, fast-growing, decorative shrub useful in smaller
gardens, especially when planted in groups. Decorative flowers attract birds and butterflies.
