- Actephila meaning “coast loving“
- sessilifolia meaning “sessile-leaved“
Occurrence
A local, understorey plant of drier types of rainforest and vine thickets. Sometimes in moist rainforest. Uncommon.
Cultivation requirements not well known. Natural habitat indicates a preference for good drainage and for a protected position in part-shade.
Appearance
Shrub/small tree (1-4m). Leaves have wavy margins and very short stalks. Small, white or cream flowers (Oct) lead to long-stalked, woody, globular capsules (10-26mm diam.) that split to release several brown seeds.
Listed under Qld Nature Conservation Act 1992 as ‘Near Threatened’, but changed to ‘Least Concern’ in 2014.
