Occurrence
A local tree of monsoon forest, beach forest, vine thickets and other seasonally dry vegetation types.
Growth requirements not well known. Natural habitat indicates a need for good drainage & tolerance of part-shade/ full sun & range of soil types. May need protection when young.
Appearance
Bushy tree (8-10m) with rough bark. Leaves dark green above and rusty-grey and densely hairy beneath. Clusters of small, hairy, cream flowers (Feb-May) lead to blue black, globular fruit ~5cm diameter.
Handsome tree, attractive foliage. Grows large enough for millable logs. A useful, general purpose timber.
