Camptacra
Origin of name
Family:
- Camptacra meaning “bent tip“
- barbata meaning “bearded“
Occurrence
A small, local daisy occurring as ground-cover in grassland and open woodland.
Cultivation requirements are not well known. Natural habitat indicates a need for an open, sunny position and tolerance of occasional dryness, inundation and soil salinity.
Appearance
Erect or sprawling herb, usually 30–40cm tall. Small, dainty, usually white flowers occur abundantly in spring-autumn and lead to numerous, wind-dispersed, ‘parachute’ seeds.
Profusion of white flowers is striking in mass plantings. Flowers attract bees and other insects. Appears to be hardy and worth trying in gardens and rockeries or as a pot/container plant. Readily self-seeds.
