Occurrence
A vine found locally in open forest as well as in monsoon forest and vine thickets.
Growth conditions not well known. Natural habitat indicates a preference for dappled/heavy shade and moist, well-drained soil.
Appearance
A vine with stems (to ~1m) that can die back to perennial rootstock in the dry. Leaves very variable in shape. Cream/brown, tubular flowers are followed by globose, green fruit ripening to brown.
Unusual flowers are a feature. Food plant for caterpillars of Big Greasy Butterfly.
